Industrial dry ice blasting / Greater Brisbane

Dry ice blasting for
heavy equipment,
plant & machinery.

M&S Industrial Cleaning assesses and scopes dry ice blasting around your equipment and maintenance window. Remove suitable grease, oil, carbon and production build-up without adding wash water or conventional abrasive blast media.

The maintenance problem / A different approach

Industrial cleaning.
Without adding wash water.

Water, solvents, hand scraping and abrasive blasting all have their place. Dry ice is worth considering when contamination needs removing from valuable equipment and added moisture or spent abrasive media would complicate the job.

01

A dry cleaning process

No wash water is introduced by the blasting medium. Useful where added moisture is undesirable.

02

Assess the surface first

A non-abrasive option for many industrial surfaces, with compatibility and cleaning settings assessed first.

03

Clean in place where practical

Suitable access can reduce dismantling. Isolation and the maintenance window still need to be agreed.

04

No spent abrasive media

The dry ice becomes gas. Removed grease, dust and process residue still need containment and collection.

What needs cleaning?

Heavy equipment.
Targeted cleaning.

Excavator pump rooms, control cabinets, bakery conveyors, moulds and air-side coolers present different cleaning problems. Find the application that matches your equipment and the result you need.

How dry ice blasting works

Loosen the deposit.
Leave no spent grit.

Compressed air accelerates solid CO₂ particles. Impact and rapid temperature change help loosen suitable contamination. The dry ice sublimates; the removed material does not disappear.

01 / THE MEDIUM

Dry ice & compressed air.

Solid carbon dioxide is directed at the agreed cleaning surface.

02 / THE ACTION

The deposit is loosened.

Surface condition and cleaning settings determine suitability.

03 / THE CLEAN-UP

The contamination remains.

Removed material needs appropriate containment, collection and disposal.

Before inspection. Between production runs.

Plan the clean around what comes next: inspecting a surface, servicing a component or preparing equipment for the next production run.

From site assessment to handback

Plan around
the asset.

  1. 01

    Assess the equipment

Identify the asset, deposit, location and required result.

  2. 02

    Define the scope

Check surface compatibility, access and the maintenance window.

  3. 03

    Agree the controls

Resolve isolation, ventilation, containment and site requirements.

  4. 04

    Clean to the agreed plan

Confirm settings and use a test area where the result needs checking.

  5. 05

    Review and hand back

Check the agreed area, manage residue and confirm any further inspection or testing.

For maintenance, operations & procurement

Site requirements
belong in the scope.

Isolation, CO₂ ventilation, access, containment and the maintenance window matter as much as the cleaning method. Include induction, documentation and specialist requirements early so capability can be confirmed before the work is agreed.

Safety & site planning About M&S

Before you enquire

Useful answers.
A clearer starting point.

You do not need a completed technical brief to get in touch. A short description of the equipment, deposit and location is enough to start.

More questions answered

Will it suit my equipment?

The substrate, coating, condition and contamination all matter. A test area may be needed to confirm compatibility and removal performance before agreeing the work.

Can the equipment stay running?

Do not assume so. Cleaning in place can reduce dismantling, but operating state, isolation and safe access are determined for the asset and site. M&S does not offer live electrical cleaning.

Does the process leave waste?

The dry ice becomes CO₂ gas rather than spent abrasive media or wash water. Removed grease, dust and other contamination still require appropriate handling. Ventilation must also be assessed.

What should I send first?

The equipment, what needs removing, site suburb and preferred maintenance timing. Use the short text form; photos and further detail can be arranged during follow-up.
